Hydroelectric energy

We provide clean, affordable and reliable energy, transitioning to a climate-neutral economy.

Hydroelectricity

We can identify three types of hydroelectric uses

Hydroelectric energy is generated by using a body of water, directing it to the power plant where turbines convert mechanical energy (both potential and kinetic) into electrical energy.

Regulation plants

A certain amount of water is stored using a dam on a riverbed and is used during periods of peak demand in the electrical system.

Run-of-river plants

They generate electricity continuously as long as there is water flow available in the riverbed.

Pumped-storage or reversible plants

Water is pumped to higher elevations during periods of electricity surplus and later used during times of peak demand in the system.
